In this assignment, you are required to describe in some details what your project is about. You have to address the broad project area discussed in your class. Also, you have to present your project work progress since your last initial draft proposal. Through this TMA, you need to answer the following questions:
Question 1: Specific title and aim(s) for the project (10 marks):
(1) Specific title: This should fall within the scope of the broad project topic and clearly identify the student’s chosen specific topic (3 marks)
(2) A clear statement of your project aims: (5 marks)
(a) Your answer has to be consistent with your work in Question 2 with clarity of purpose (3 marks)
(b) The project must deliver something tangible, and the student should express in a clear manner what this project is about. For example, development of a software system, designing and implementing a database or an application of artificial intelligence to data interpretation (2 marks)
(3) Presentation and effective communication in clear English; this includes: (2 marks)
• Logical development of ideas (1 mark)
• Spelling punctuation and grammar (1 mark)
Question 2: Literature search, problem and suggested solution (30 marks):
(1) Problem definition: (8 marks)
It has to be a non-trivial problem that is related to real need or application (4 marks).
Explanation of the project’s scope. (2 marks)
Target customer should be included (2 marks)
(2) Literature search: (6 marks)
Presentation of similar systems in the domain (2 marks)
Presentation of the corresponding offered solutions (2 marks)
Highlight the drawbacks of the existing solutions (justification of the student choice of the idea of the project) (2 marks)
(3) Suggested solution: (12 marks)
It has to be realistic in both depth and extent (4 marks)
It should include an initial textual description of the system (4 marks)

Question 3: Schedule for the project (10 marks): The schedule should be well planned, and easy to follow. It should show that you have:
(1) Thought ahead and set realistic timescales (2 marks)
(2) Clearly defined the stages, intermediate targets and milestones of the project (6 marks)
(3) Built the schedule in some flexibility to allow possible slight modifications in the upcoming stages. (2 marks)
Question 4: The Detailed Requirements Specification: (15 marks)
(1) Functional Requirements (what does your proposed system do)– All your system functions (10 marks)
(2) Software, Hardware or any other Requirements (5 marks)
Question 5: The Initial Design of the system: (20 marks)
(1) Include initial DFD (Data Flow) or initial flow chart or any other diagram that shows the operation of the system (7 marks)
(2) Include a system model which illustrates the structure and components of the system and how they are related (component diagram). (8 marks)
(3) The software or modeling tools you used for the initial design along with the justifications for using these specific tools. (5 marks)
Question 6: Near future tasks (7 marks)
(1) Identify what work you intend to complete in the near future (4 marks)
(2) Justify why this is a priority and how this is linked to the schedule (3 marks)
Proper citation of the references (3 marks)
You need to conduct an effective and literature search that needs planning and preparation. You have to be aware that information literacy is an important skill and the project is an opportunity to you to enhance this skill. You should show a methodical approach and present your ideas with

respect to identifying resources, the search terms and your keywords, an appropriate search strategy while keeping log of your search terms and results. In this context, you need to cite the references of your work using standard and professional citation format.
Proper listing of at least five references (5 marks)
You need to list up to five references in a standard format, it is important that the chosen format is used consistently and accurately. You should present your references in such a way the reader will be able to follow up on a particular references if he/she wishes to. You need to present the references in a correct and complete way. The given references should be appropriate to your project and not simply relevant to the broad project topic. The references must not include any of the set books for the relevant level 3 course. They must not all come from the same source.
Your references should be good academic peer-reviewed quality sources (i.e international journals, international conferences, books in the domain, professional website).
