Bluetooth technology is a cutting-edge open specification that enables short-range wireless connections between desktop and notebook computers, handhelds, personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, camera phones, printers, digital cameras and other devices. Using the internet and other resources (e.g., books and AOU e-library), write a short report explaining the following factors: Discuss the frequency bands of operation for the Bluetooth standard. Discuss the reasons for the selection of these frequency bands taking into consideration factors such as interference (avoiding interference) etc. (6 marks) Security is a crucial issue in Bluetooth wireless technology. What are the major security modes for Bluetooth access between two devices? Discuss the recently security issues like: bluesnarfing, blue jacking, blue bugging. (6 marks) 3G cellular systems also claim to provide wireless data networking facility. Discuss some main differences between the Bluetooth and the 3G cellular systems. (6 marks) Discuss the main differences between the Wi-Fi (802. 11g) and the Bluetooth system taking into consideration factors such as Data Rates, Frequency bands and range of operation. (6 marks) Short Report Writing: Please adhere to the following guidelines for writing your report: Your report should be between 500 and 600 words in length. Under-length and over-length reports will be penalized. Your report should include at least two figures and/or tables. The 4G systems are projected to solve the still-remaining problems of 3G systems. They are designed to provide a wide variety of new services, from high-quality voice to high-definition video to high-data-rate wireless channels. The 4G systems will not only support the next generation mobile services, but also will support the fixed wireless networks.
